How to Choose a Korean Sunscreen in Lebanon

Sunscreen is the step most people skip and the one dermatologists mention most. Korean sunscreens are popular because the textures are light, which matters in a hot, humid climate like Lebanon's.

What SPF actually means

SPF measures protection against UVB, the rays associated with sunburn. SPF50+ is the highest rating commonly labelled. The number is not a duration, and it does not mean you can skip reapplication.

What PA means

PA ratings measure protection against UVA rays. They run from PA+ to PA++++. Korean and Japanese sunscreens often show both, for example SPF50+ PA++++, while sunscreens sold in other markets may show SPF only.

Texture matters more than you think

The best sunscreen is the one you will actually wear every day. Korean sunscreens come in several formats:

  • Serum sunscreens — the lightest, absorb fastest, layer well under makeup
  • Suncreams — slightly richer, suit drier skin
  • Velvet or matte finishes — leave less shine, often chosen for oilier skin
  • Sun sticks — solid format, easy to reapply over makeup or on the go

Reapplication is the real problem

Sunscreen wears off through the day, especially with sweat. This is where stick formats are useful, because they can be applied over makeup without disturbing it. Keeping one in a bag is more practical than carrying a bottle.

Where sunscreen sits in your routine

Sunscreen is the last step of a morning routine, applied after moisturiser and before makeup. It is not used at night. See the full Korean skincare routine order.
